Art History, Theory and Criticism Minor

Required Courses:

The minor in art history, theory and criticism is designed to prepare students to:

• Recognize major achievements in the history of art, including the works and intentions of leading artists in the past and present, and demonstrate the way art reflects cultural values.
• Compare and contrast developments in the history of art across periods and cultures.

A grade of “C” or better is required in each required course. Minimum of nine upper division art history hours required.

• ARTH 1600 - World Art I: Art Before 1200
• ARTH 1700 - World Art II: Art Since 1200
• ARTH 2600 - Reading and Writing Visual Culture
• ARTH 3080 - Art of the 20th and 21st Centuries
