Concentrations are recommended within the major but are not required. Students may choose from the four concentrations OR work with an advisor to customize a personal communication degree plan. For all students, elective courses should be selected in consultation with a Communication Arts and Sciences advisor.
CAS 1010 Public Speaking is required for all CAS majors and minors but does not count towards the total number of hours needed for the major (42) or the minor (21). It will fulfill the General Studies Oral Communication requirement.
A senior experience course is required for all students in each track and will be selected in consultation with a department faculty advisor.
Independent study, variable topics courses, and experiential education courses, such as practica and internships, may be taken in each of the program areas.
A grade of “C-” or better is required for each course in this program to count toward the bachelor's degree. Students should note that programs differ in the minimum grade required.
