Biology courses selected from the 2000-, 3000-, and 4000-level series, and approved by faculty advisors in the Biology Department, must be completed to bring the total of biology courses approved for the major to 40 semester hours.
Electives 11-16 At least 21 semester hours of the major:
(including genetics, ecology and upper-division electives) must be from the 3000- and 4000-level courses of the Biology Department.
Total (minimum) 40 Required Non-Biology Courses:
One year of college general chemistry with lab (CHE 1800, CHE 1810, CHE 1850), Organic Chemistry I with lab (CHE 3100 and CHE 3120), either Biochemistry I (CHE 4310) or Organic Chemistry II (CHE 3110), and one year of mathematics starting with MTH 1110 or above, are requisites for a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Students must satisfy the requirements listed for the bachelor of science major in biology, including BIO 2400 and BIO 4510. Students must also take BIO 3350, BIO 4440, and BIO 4450. Additional hours must be taken from the courses listed below to complete a minimum of 21 hours of upper-division courses and a minimum of 40 semester credit hours in biology. The student must satisfy the requirements listed for non-biology courses for the bachelor of science major in biology and complete the requirements for a minor in chemistry. Cell and Molecular Concentration
