The minor in Special Education is designed to prepare teachers, physical educators, counselors, and professionals to work with exceptional candidates in educational, therapeutic, and recreational settings. candidates should understand that this 18 hour course of study fulfills Metro State requirements for a minor, but it does not lead to licensure.

Special Education Minor Courses:

SED 3600 - The Exceptional Learner in the Classroom

PLUS a minimum of 15 hours selected in consultation with a Special Education advisor, from the following courses:

SED 2200 - Diversity, Disability, and Education
SED 2700 - Social/Emotional Development and Disorders
SED 3650 - Curriculum and Content Standards
SED 3700 - Educational and Medical Aspects of Disabilities
SED 3750 - Assessment, Methods, and Assistive Technology for Severe Disabilities
SED 3800 - Differentiated Instruction for Mathematics and Literacy
SED 4050 - Evaluation and Program Planning
SED 4200 - Language Development and Reading Disabilities
SED 4250 - Effective Behavioral Support Systems
SED 4300 - Assessment and Methods for Emotional/Behavioral Disorders
