MTH 3130 - Advanced Matrix Methods for the Physical Sciences



Credits: 4 (4 + 0)

Prerequisite(s): MTH 2410 with a grade of “C” or better

Description: This is a course in the principles and application of matrix methods, primarily to problems in the surveying and engineering fields. Topics include solving systems of linear equations, determinants, matrix algebra, vector spaces, eigenvalues and eigenvectors, orthogonality, nonlinear least squares and geodesy, and finite elements. A software package will be used in this course. Only one of the three courses MTH 2140, MTH 3130, or MTH 3140 can be counted in the mathematics major or minor.
